Babies

These of 2 of the 6 baby hamsters. I'm a bit worried as the mommy has moved the nest to the wheel and left these 2 babies in the house below. The daddy sometimes goes in and lies with them but he can't feed them.

They are only 4 days old so I guess the mommy has decided she can only raise 4??

Tonsillectomy

I woke Callyn up at 6:10am this morning to take him to City Med to have his tonsils taken out! He was a bit tearful as we left but was a lot braver than I thought he would be! He was not too impressed with the hopsital gowns and underwear!

It took 12 second for him to fall asleep with the gas. In the end he was kicking and fighting the gas! We left when he was asleep and about 45 minutes later he was wheeled back into the ward.

He cried a lot when he started waking up. He was in a lot of pain and all he wanted to do was go home! When he was properly awake we gave him medicine, got him dressed and prepared to leave but the sister said he had to eat first. so while he was eating his icecream I ran downstairs to the pharmacy to get his medicines and Donovan sat with him. He wanted Daddy to drive him home so off they went in the Porsche and I met them at home. We just sat around watching TV and DVD's all day and he played his new car game on the computer. I have just put him to bed with a long story and he cuddled me so tightly until he fell asleep. Precious boy!

Hamsters

Do you remember the other day when we bought 2 female baby hamsters........

well........................

.........they had BABIES!

Just before church today, Callyn came running to me and opened his hand and there was the cutest little baby hamster! It had its stripes and was about 4cm long but its eyes were closed! I said "Where did you get that?". He calmly answered, "In the age. The female hamster gave birth."

I was so excited and we ran to show Daddy! We didn't have time to look for more but the mommy was pleased to have her baby back and carried it up into the wheel where she had made a nest!

When we got home later we discovered another one. So I guess we didn't get 2 females! Now what do we do with this happy family. Even the daddy is helping to build the nest. How can we split up a happy family. But if we don't we might end up with a family of 100 before the end of the year. The gestation period is 21 days and they can have 14 babies in a litter. Luckily we only have 2 although maybe there were more! So tomorrow Callyn says we must go to the pet shop where we bought the hamsters and tell the 'aunty" that she made a mistake! We'll ask her advice and maybe sell some babies back to her!

Callyn had said that he wanted a boy hamster so I told him today that his hamster was actually a boy. He argued a bit and said we bought a girl but I told him you can only get babies if you have a mommy and a daddy hamster so his must be the daddy. I am waiting in fear for the next question............
