June 2013

We had a lovely home school outing at Crafts Step by Step where the children painted 2 candles and then made their very own candle that looked like a milkshake!

Callyn got this little motor bike when he was 5 but he was a bit scared to ride it alone. Last week he asked me if he could ride his bike so Donovan got it out and Callyn hopped on it and rode off!
We went to the park where they had fun exploring!
Callyn was so sweet to lift Jordy all over the park!

We took a drive up Naval Hill to see the renovations. They have built a platform extending out over the hill.

This is the largest statue of Nelson Mandela!
We took the bike to the track on Monday and Callyn had fun riding around the kiddies' track.

Birds

We had to deviate from routine today as Callyn suddenly developed this interest in birds and identifying birds. He got out our Sasol Book of Birds, the toy binoculars, borrowed my camera and off he went. I filled up the bird feeder with seeds and Jordy grabbed a book and pencil and the team was ready! They sat quietly waiting for the birds and they arrived shortly to eat the seeds. (How did they know they were there?)

Callyn studied them and then looked for them in his book and when he identified them, Jordy wrote down the names! They were very cross with Joseph when he started cleaning up the front garden and chased the birds away because they had to come inside and continue with school! But I think they learnt more in their bird watching experience than what I taught them in school today!

When Jospeh had finished they were at it again. They make a lovely little team!

Gymnastics

Callyn is horrified that he has to wear this leotard and these shorts in his gymnastics competitions! Luckily all the boys wear the same and they have lovely tracksuits to wear over them! His first competition is on the 29th June.

Jordy is not competiting this year but a coach gave her a leotard to play around in at home!

They practise their hand stands all over the place.
