Gracie's baptism

This year, Gracie asked me to be her godmother! Of course I accepted and yesterday we joined her for her baptism.
Brett (our pastor) had a few words for Gracie.

She has been asking for some time to be baptised so the day was very special for her!

No balance wheels!

Jordy is soooo excited about riding without her balance wheels and just wants to ride all the time despite riding into a brick pillar!

A day full of accidents

I always put both kids in a trolley or the pram if we are at a shopping centre because of all the scares of kids being stolen so today I had to go to the post office at Northridge Mall. When we were going back to the car both kids moved to the one side of the trolley and it tipped over but we were walking next to a bakkie so the kids landed against the bakkie whilst still in the trolley. I couldn't get it upright and it slowly started slipping down squashing the kids between the door and the trolley - just their legs were still in the trolley and their backs were against the door. They started screaming (I think everyone in the parking lot heard them!) and the harder I tried to pull up the trolley, the more it slipped. A lady saw what was happening and grabbed Jordy out and I grabbed Callyn. She immediately gave Jordy to me so I could comfort her so I had both kids in my arms and they were going ballistic, screaming "I want my Daddy!" Both of them were hysterical and screaming for their Daddy! I felt like such a bad mom as they didn't want me!

Anyway, I quickly put them in the car so that the noise wouldn't be so bad . Callyn must have got something bashed into his face as it started swelling just under his eye but Jordy was fine, just shocked. When we got home Callyn sat with ice in a dish towel on his face for about 45 minutes and it seems to have helped.

Then later this afternoon when the kids were riding, Callyn fell twice on his knees, so you can imagine how he performed when it was bathtime!

Earlier on Jordy rode straight into the brick pillar but luckily she had on her helmet so she bounced off the pillar and only had a scraped finger! So we went through quite a few plasters today and lots of hugs and cuddles!

Jordy learns to ride!

Yesterday Donovan asked Jordy if he could take off her balance wheels and she shrieked, screamed and leapt for joy for about 2 minutes! Callyn was so keen to help her....

...and off she goes!

She managed really well for her first time!

She had a few wipeouts but luckily she fell onto the grass and leaves. Today she rode in the driveway but I couldn't take any photos as I was running after her in case she fell!

Yesterday afternoon the kids went to Meggie's house to play so I made a date with Donovan to have coffee / hot chocolate at the Mall. We had a great time and browsed around the shops in peace!

In the meanwhile the kids decided that they wanted to sleep over so I took them their blankies, dummy and pj's and then we waited for the call to fetch Callyn! We decided to eat out so went to Jimmy's Prawns for some seafood and then we drove around in the Porshe and stopped at another place for some hot drinks. Still no call......

So we went home and on the way Ansie phoned to say that all 4 kids were asleep!!!! I was astounded! So we went home and I had a nice bubble bath, all to myself! The house was so quiet! I woke up at 7 am this morning - the latest I have slept in years!!!!! Ansie sent an sms to say that our kids slept through and woke up at 6am. They dropped Callyn off at about 8:15 and Donovan and Callyn and a friend have gone off to the movies! Jordy wanted to go to the gym with Ansie and family so off she went! I feel lost at home without the kids but it is nice and peaceful!

Now I had better fetch my angel!

School days

We learnt about the 5 senses the other day and we tasted lemon juice, coffee, juice and salt water! Callyn loved guessing bitter, salty, sweet and sour and did it over and over again! Jordy was too scared!

Our A Beka books arrived on Jordy's birthday and identical parcels arrived as I had insured the first lot that never arrived so they resent them and then both arrived! So Jordy is doing some grade R work like God's World, Art and Readiness Skills. She thinks she is so smart having the same books as Callyn!

Fun on the trampoline!

The Henriques Visit!

We had a lovely time last week when Kerry, Kevin, Conor and Damon visited from KZN. The tricycle was a hit with Damon and he sat in the back for ages. Jordy has developed some cute calves from all the riding!

Jordy loves to do her hair and make up at her new dressing table from Ansie and Megs!

Conor got a bit chilly and luckily Callyn didn't see his blankie wrapped around Conor as he probably would have a had a fit!

Donny Boy!

The kids found some friends and played for a bit. When they left Callyn called, "Maatjie, are you coming back?"!!!!!

A lovely view from the Gariep Hotel now called De Stijl.
