Gariep Dam (Forever Resorts)

We had a great time the first day exploring the resort on our bikes.

The children loved the trampolines!

The boys played many, many games of putt putt!

They also swam a lot although on the first day a few bus loads of kids from a school nearby decided to use the pool too! Callyn and Jordy love climbing all over Abby, Joel and Jubi! Jordy likes Joel to give her piggy backs! Today they played families and Joel had to be her big brother!

They climbed up the dam wall all by themselves but Jordy needed Joel to help her down! the ribs on the braai were a big hit - there were no leftovers! Abby and Joel braaied marshmallows for all of us!

Today we went to a place of safety to visit the children there. There are 16 children ranging in ages from 3 to 13. We took them Easter Eggs and biscuits and they were so good! We had to tell them they could take as they just waited there looking at the food!

The little ones loved being picked up! They were also fascinated with Abby and Jubi's long hair! They couldn't resist touching their hair! ( Abby came home and got in the bath straight away and washed her hair!)

Their house is very neat and clean and run by a lady named Lempone and two child carers, Stella and Maud. There are another two carers but they work in shifts so they weren't there today. Abby has asked if we can go back there before she goes back to NZ. We might make them some play dough and take it along too!

The children are so well looked after. They have lovely, healthy meals and at night the carers read them stories, sing with them, pray and then put them to bed. The children are very responsible and can wash themselves and they help with washing and drying of dishes and making sandwiches. We notices that their clothes don't fit too well and they are very worn out but they rely on donations for clothes. I wonder if any of them have ever had new clothes?

Even Joel was carrying the little ones around. One boy who is disabled, liked Joel a lot!
